There is a change happening within Launceston, Tasmania, and this isn’t driven by the economy. Since its creation, Honed Architecture + Design has been engaged to design architectural residences for a generation that has a heightened awareness of the benefit that quality architectural homes verse traditional domestic builders kit homes.

As part of this generation Honed Architecture + Design is making its own mark through the expression of its clients creativity and the introduction of sensitive contextual residences within the traditional urban sprawl.

This one residence in Ivy Lane is located within the traditional suburb of Newstead challenging the norm and identifies what is achievable through the expression of architecture and the expression of its clients flair for creativity.

This residences presents itself boldly to the street. It is raw and harsh, yet stylist and sophisticated, with no street front windows, only a garage and a front door visible. The main facade is a composition of black custom stacked slim line bricks with formal vertical and horizontal lines giving presence. The massing of proportions to this facade adds a gesture of art and creativity.

Behind this facade is a contemporary interpretation of a family residence internally. Polished concrete floors throughout, high ceilings, minimalist joinery detailing and feature sky lighting all give acknowledgment to the clients flair for design.

Externally the feature courtyard gives further life to this residence, a covered alfresco area and a beautifully balanced window seat adds depth and enrichment to the external space. The massing of this black slim line stacked brick residence define the quality of the residence.
